Post-GCSE Getaway in Cala d'Or, Mallorca – A Well-Earned Celebration for three Teens and Two Mums
After months of revision timetables, past papers and exam stress, we decided there was only one way to celebrate the end of GCSEs – with a week in the sunshine.
This wasn't just a holiday.
It was a chance for three teenagers to relax, recharge and celebrate everything they'd achieved, while two mums enjoyed slowing down after supporting them through one of the biggest milestones of their school years.

Our base for the week was the beautifully renovated Prinsotel Alba.
The location couldn't have been better.
Just a short walk from Cala Gran beach, with restaurants, shops and the marina all within easy walking distance, we rarely needed transport during our stay.
The pool area quickly became one of our favourite places to unwind after mornings spent exploring.
Crystal-Clear Beaches
One of the things that makes Cala d'Or so special is its collection of small coves.
Instead of one huge beach, you'll discover beautiful turquoise bays surrounded by pine trees and whitewashed buildings.
Every morning felt like walking into a postcard.
Whether the girls wanted to swim, paddle or simply relax in the sunshine, there was always somewhere perfect to spend the day.
The Little Things That Made the Trip Special
Sometimes it's the unexpected moments that become your favourite memories.
One of ours?
The friendly fruit sellers who wander the beaches with wheelbarrows full of freshly prepared pineapple, watermelon and dragon fruit.
After swimming in the sea, nothing tasted better.
Simple moments like these are what make travelling such a joy.
Exploring Without a Car
One of the biggest surprises was just how easy Cala d'Or is to get around.
The tourist road train became one of the girls' favourite ways to explore different beaches and parts of the resort.
No stress.
No taxis.
Just hop on and enjoy the ride.
Evenings Around the Marina
As the sun began to set each evening, we found ourselves wandering towards Cala d'Or Marina.
Luxury yachts lined the harbour while families enjoyed dinner overlooking the water.
The atmosphere felt relaxed, safe and welcoming—ideal for teenagers who wanted a little independence while staying close by.
There were also lovely little boutiques and market stalls, perfect for picking up jewellery and holiday souvenirs.
A Little Luxury at EGOS Beach Club
One afternoon we treated ourselves to a relaxing afternoon at EGOS Beach Club.
Comfortable day beds, beautiful views, chilled drinks and fresh fruit made it the perfect escape while the girls enjoyed the sunshine.
It felt like a little slice of luxury without feeling pretentious.
Safe, Relaxed and Perfect for Families
As parents, one of the biggest things we noticed was how relaxed we felt.
The resort has a calm atmosphere, everything is within walking distance and there was never any pressure to constantly keep everyone entertained.
The girls had the freedom to enjoy themselves while we knew they were in a safe environment.
That peace of mind is priceless.
Final Thoughts
This holiday wasn't about ticking attractions off a list.
It was about celebrating.
Celebrating the end of GCSEs.
Celebrating friendships.
Celebrating making time together before the next chapter begins.
Looking back through our photos, it's the smiles, sunsets, beach walks and shared laughs that stand out the most.
